The Conservatorio di musica “Giuseppe Verdi” di Como is an academy of musical studies placed under the Higher Education Institutions for Fine Arts, Music and Dance (AFAM – Alta Formazione Artistica e Musicale) area of the Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR – Ministero dell’Istruzione, Università e Ricerca). It is the youngest among the Conservatories of Regione Lombardia, considering its year of foundation (1982).
Our Conservatory is devoted to the study and practice of music, and to provide a musical education in music performance as well as knowledge of music history, analysis and repertory. Our Institute offers both undergraduate (corsi di formazione pre-accademica) and graduate – Bachelor and Master – courses.
Conservatorio di Musica “Giuseppe Verdi” di Como is located in the central area of the town, inside a prestigious building of the 15th Century, completely renewed in 2010 with the installation of agreat three-keyboard organ built by the famous Italian builder Gustavo Zanin, Codroipo (Udine). Our Conservatory is a well-established institution of the town and the province, with close relationships with local and international universities and artistic institutions.
The activity of our academy focuses on three fundamental dimensions of musical education: didactics, production and research. While preparing students for a professional career, our didactic approach features an experimental sphere with up-to-date teaching methodologies that ensure a clear awareness of the diffusion and the production of music.
